Visualization Technique to Silence Free-Floating Anxiety

Visualization Technique to Silence Free-Floating Anxiety

Nervousness, dread, jitters, fear, panic...

Are general symptoms of free-floating anxiety. You know, this buzz of worry in our head that has become an unwelcome constant guest in our everyday life. We unfortunately all suffer from this; but the good news is that there are ways – like the below visualization exercise – to help identify this ongoing "humm" and drive it away, at least temporarily, for a well-deserved, peaceful break.

- Sit comfortably on the floor with eyes closed. Make sure your shoulders are relaxed. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in, and deep breath out

- Imagine that you are walking down a path, in a serene forest. As you enter the woods, you come across a clearing

- Directing yourself towards the clearing, you find a quiet spot to sit down

- Suddenly, a group of wild animals is surrounding you, staring at you assertively. They are harmless but quite impressive as they are roaring, each at a different power, creating a buzz. There is a horse, a bear, deers, rabbits, birds... Each of these animals represents a worry – the bigger, the greater.

- Observe each animal for a second and gently touch them, one at a time. As you do, they settle and disappear into the forest. The buzz gradually softens, until the clearing is completely silent.

- Take a look at the trees and enjoy the stillness of this moment. You are at peace.
