We have absolutely fallen in love with Bianca’s designs, and are delighted to introduce her to you. We sat down with her for a chat, to learn more about her Bable journey.

How did you come to do what you do?

It wasn’t intentional! I was actually a primary school teacher. On the side I always loved painting, and then I did a flower course. I was just experimenting when I started painting on candles. One day I posted some on Instagram, and I received so many messages about them! I then brought some to a dinner party, as a gift for the hostess, where I got even more interest in them. I went home and set up a dedicated Instagram account, and it all started from there. After about a month I handed in my notice at the school, and have been doing this full time ever since. The power of social media can be quite incredible!

When I started I had no formal suppliers, nor any packaging. I just had to learn everything as I went along.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

I love collaborating with other people and designing new things. There are so many ideas to explore, and working with new people is always so much fun!

What challenges do you usually encounter?

Being a complete novice in setting up a business, finding suppliers and being very organised about the process was quite challenging. It’s hard to be on your own with a business like this, where so much is going on but you also need to constantly be looking forward. Finding out how to upscale the business has been my most recent challenge.

What's your typical day like?

No day is ever the same, which is exciting! I tend to start my day on Instagram, uploading and responding to comments and messages. I then move on to my emails, and set my plan for the day. I have a lot of Zoom meetings, which I tend to get done earlier if possible. I get all my painting done in the evenings, as nobody is expecting responses from you then. I can just focus on doing that with no interruptions.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I’m a big foodie, and I love eating out and finding great new spots. Going to florists and doing arrangements also takes so much of my time.
